So I forgot these wonderful maternity pictures in my last post so I made a post just for them! I really loved this photo session even though I forgot my studio lights the day of! It worked out really well though and I'm so greatful to Rick and Jennifer for making my job really easy!

A New Year

Hello all! Hope everyone had a great holiday and New Years! I know we did! I'm glad all of the hustle and bustle is over though. I'm ready to get back to the norm and put into action my only New Year's resolution which is the blog more! I'm going to attempt to blog more and more importantly this blog will be the place for all my news and updates. I'm hoping to have a few changes this year to my packages and also another good giveaway as well.

So on to some news, you are no longer able to view my direct website. Thus why I am blogging more. I still have my Whitehead Photography Facebook and this blog but otherwise no more website. But all is well, everything that you'll need to know will be here or on my Facebook page. You can also still directly email me at whiteheadphotography@hotmail.com if you need answers to any questions. I check that email many times everyday, and I also reply as soon as possible.

I've learned a lot in the past year. I've made some mistakes as well that I've also been able to learn from. Those things make me the happiest because sometimes you have to make a mistake to better yourself and I feel like I have this year. I am also very happy about the growth I've witnessed. It is amazing the power that you, my customers, have on my business and for that I am very grateful. I know I wouldn't be anywhere without you all. After all, word of mouth is the best advertising I could ask for!

I'm working on a few changes with my pricing right now along with a few other new things I'm thinking about adding but don't worry the pricing won't change a lot and they most likely won't even go up. I'm at the point in my life and my business that I know that one day I would love to be able to do photography as a full time job but at the moment I do it more for fun then for an income and that's just fine for me. So for the time being, my goal is still to provide you with affordable pictures because that's what I would want when looking for a photographer. I'm not saying that my prices will never go up because I'm sure at some point they will but being affordable will also be a goal I strive for. Don't worry, you'll be the first to know when I've changed something!

Now that I've typed you a novel I have to start the year off right with some pictures. These are my favorites of the entire year, and hopefully a large post of pictures will make up for the time I've missed this past year! Happy New Year and keep checking back for more info! Thank everyone!

2010 Holiday Special!

I know it's been forever! I just wanted to take some time to tell everyone about my new holiday special this year!!! I'm really excited about it. It's a great deal! I won't wait any longer to explain, let me know if you have any questions! Remember, space is limited!

What I mean by space is limited is that this year, I will only do these photo sessions on Sundays! In other words, the days to book with me will be October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and November 7, 14, 21 and 28. Dempsey and Will!

Dempsey and Will are the brave couple that have chosen me to photograph their wedding! I am very excited that they trust me with such a large responsibility! Yesterday we did an engagement session and it was a great time! I was worried that it would rain on us but we got there with just enough time to get a good session in before it started to sprinkle. We were walking back to our car when we started to feel the rain so it worked out wonderful. They were perfect models! Here are my favorites from the day!

Spring Promotion!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the slowness of the blog lately, but things around my house have been very busy lately. I've been working on new advertising and hopefully my name will be out and about enough to bring in more business. I have also been getting ready for my very first wedding! I can't explain how excited I am about May 1st! I am very grateful that someone was nice enough to take me on to do there wedding when I have little experience. I'm hoping to make them very happy and hopefully build my portfolio so that other brides and grooms will be interested in using me in the furture!

Speaking of my portfolio I have been trying to think of way to build it more. Which brings me to this blog post. I've realized that I need to book more photo session to build my portfolio and ultimately bring in more business so in order for me to do that I have decided on a spring promotion.

If you remember correctly, a few post ago I put a little teaser up from a photo shoot I did with a large family. Actually it was 13 people in all! I was hoping it would go well and I was pleasantly surprised when I met everyone! They made me feel like family and I saw a lot of qualities that my own family have as well. I couldn't post much about them until now due to the pictures being Christmas presents but now I am very happy to get to show of this wonderful family! Enjoy!

Arthur's Graduation!

I'm a little behind! I did this shoot a week or so ago and I was so busy getting the photos edited and to this family I had to slack on getting them posted. It was really cold that day, so we got as many good shots as possible so we could get back into our warm cars! We still had a lot of fun and I loved getting to work with these girls! Addie's On Her Way!

This shoot was definitely not your normal one! After arriving at Whitney's house for the photo session I realized that I had forgotten a very important part of my backdrops, the rail that holds the entire backdrop up! So I was very worried, but thanks to Whitney and our quick thinking we made it work! I was relieved to say the least. After we figured that part out, Blake made his way over to start and it was hilarious from that point on! They made this shoot so much fun for me and I am very thankful to them for putting me at ease!

Jeremy's Christmas!

Like I said in my earlier post, Jeremy wanted me to take some pictures of him for his family as a Christmas present. He is also the Godfather of Miss Alexis from my last post so it worked out really well to do the pictures at the same time. I think we were able to get some really good shots and I'm glad Jeremy asked me to do this because it's a great example of a afforable Christmas present this year! Sometimes something as little as a picture can be enough in these times and nothing is more important than family! Anyways, here are some from Jeremy's session today! Enjoy!

Alexis

You'll probably recognize Alexis from an earlier post. I took pictures at her first birthday party and finally I've gotten a chance to capture her again! Today was a day for two different shoots...at one time! So I was going between Alexis and Jeremy (post to follow soon!) who was getting Christmas pictures made for his family. It was a very fun day and I was very excited to see the shots I took of Miss Alexis playing and climbing on everything! I rushed home to get started on editing and I must say, I am very happy with the end result! Here are my favorites!!

Bun in the Oven!

Today I had the chance to head out to Gurley for a baby shower! I will be doing Whitney's maternity pictures hopefully in the next week or two so I was excited to get to be present for the shower! I got to check out little Addie's room and I got a lot of good ideas for her shoot. Of course I couldn't not take pictures so here are a few of Whitney during the shower as well as the details she incorporated into her shower! Keep in mind, Whitney is already 8 months pregnant but she looks more like 5 months! Remember to check back for those maternity pictures as well!!

Just wanted to take a minute to show off some self portraits. Today my family and I went outside to take our Christmas pictures. I thought, hey I'm a photographer, why not! So instead of spending the money on getting them done I just did them myself, well with a little help from my husband as well. I really loved the end result! I took the pictures and made our Christmas cards out of them with my new printer! So now all I have to do is send them out! I'm a little ahead of schedule since I won't be sending them out for a few more weeks but I know I'll get behind at some point so it's really great to have them done already! Enjoy!

A DOGgone Good Day!

Saturday I had my first session with a pet! Kristyn contacted me in search of someone to take family pictures for her. The catch, she said, was that it would involve herself, her husband, and their puppy, Mason! Fortunately, for me, everyone else she had talked to had said NO pets! I was happy to take on the challenge! I was a little nervous, but after we met up and let Mason give everything a good sniff she was a perfect model! I was very happy with how the day went and I hope that Kristyn and Heath are happy with the end result!

A Trip to the Park!

Tuesday of this past week my husband and I took our daughter to the park. That is her number one thing to do. She loves being outside and loves getting to swing and slide! We were in town and saw this park and decided that we would treat her since she had been so good that day! Of course I had my camera so I took advantage of the moment! Here are my favorites!

Anna's Day Out!

I did this shoot last Sunday. Iknow, Father's day! It was the only day that worked for Anna's and I's schedule. After trying and trying for weeks to book this shoot, Father's day was the only day that we weren't busy so we jumped at the chance. Anna is a softball player so with practices, games, tournaments and team camps she doesn't have time for anything else. She was so excited to get to get away even if it was just for a short period. We had a lot of fun just hanging out and we were both back in time to spend time our fathers for Father's day. These are my favorites of the day!

This past weekend I attended a friends graduation and while I was not even close to the only person with a camera, mine was the only one of my friend's families that would work in the dark gym. Granted, I had no problem getting the wonderful pictures for them. I was glad that I was there to capture the moment and I was able to let the family concentrate more on the ceremony then on getting enough good pictures. I would have loved to have been able to move around more then I got to but I think the end result came out looking pretty good anyway. Here are my favorites of Rebecca's graduation!

Matthew turns 3!

Happy Birthday Alexis!

I'm moving a little slow lately. My work schedule has changed and I'm still adjusting. I did, however, get to attend a friend's Birthday party for her daughter. Alexis was one year old last Friday and she had her party last Sunday. So it's a week late but none the less I have pictures from the party. She was so pretty in her yellow dress and she was posing really good for me! Here are my favorites!

Her party theme was Princesses, as you can probably tell by the next few photos of some of the details of the party!

These last two are my favorites. Alexis dug right into her cake more than I've ever seen any other one year old! It was so cute, and she already knows how to share!

Union Station Hotel-Nashville

Shorty after our first trip to Nashville we went back for a more leizurely day. We went to a concert and stayed in a beautiful hotel. Along the way to the concert we walked down the streets of Nashville and got some good pictures.

This is an old church that we passed, I wanted to make the picture look old as well so I used some new skills I learned from the photoshop seminar to help with that. This is what I came up with!

Gaylord Opryland Hotel-Nashville

These next pictures are at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville Tennessee. I really love this hotel, there is so much to take pictures of! Whitney and I went to a photoshop seminar at the hotel and after arriving nearly two hours early we were only able to see two of the many gardens. We had a good day and we learned a lot about photoshop as well! Here are a few of my faovites of the day!

My daughter is my main little model. These two are of her earlier in the spring. We went with another photographer friend of mine to take some pictures at her house and I got to sneak these two before she could tell me no. She was in one of those moods where she didn't want me to take her picture but it was just fine if Whitney did. There will be plenty more to come, but just not tonight!

A little about me, and my goals!

I think I'll start off my saying a little about myself. I have always loved taking pictures of, well, just about everything possible. I just recently have gotten really serious about it. I am married to a wonderful man, and we have a beautiful daughter. They will be the main models in most of my posts for the time being!

Now let me explain how I feel about somethings. First of all, I am a firm believer in customer service and affordable prices. When I was getting married I looked long and hard for good, and reasonably priced vendors. My husband and I, being from a smaller town on the outskirts of Huntsville and of course not being blessed with the most money had to decide where to spend our money. Many of our family members were able to do a lot so that we didn't need many vendors, and that in itself was a huge help. So when it came time for me to decide on a photographer I had to look long and hard at just about everyone I knew of. I couldn't believe how expensive they all where. So in a nutshell, my goal is to be affordable. I know not everyone has a lot of money and I want to cater to those people. After all, I'm doing this more for the love of photography! I'm young, and new but I promise I'll always work to make my customers happy and I will always be reasonably priced!
